Fashion is about attention to detail. Not only should you get that base garment correct, by wearing something that ticks all the fashion boxes, you also need to finish it off with the right accessories. When it comes to bikinis we have suggested a few rules for a universally good result. We have recommended that your bikini be in black, that it has a classic triangle top tied round the neck. The bottoms will be classic string ties with a “less is more” approach, not too much material. You can break these rules and get away with them, but you can also stick to them and be assured of a good result regardless of skin complexion or body shape. So now we have the basic classic black bikini in place, what can we do to finish off this picture – lots!
The list is extensive but let’s look at some of the most obvious and effective ways to add to your black bikini look.
The Black Sarong
You can use any colour, but black always works. The sarong should be of the highest quality material with the right translucency to just reveal the shape of the bikini underneath and outline the curves in all the right places. You can use a black sarong skirt or a longer sarong dress to achieve a great result. This accessory allows you to go from beach to shops to summer lunch without having to change from your black bikini underneath. It can also hide those spots we don’t always want to draw attention to while walking down the street.
The kaftan cover-up
In similar material to the black sarong, consider the shirt length or short skirt length kaftan like top. This garment is characterised by semi transparent material in black or a complimentary colour to your black bikinis. It can be thrown over your top in a moment and reveals some or all of your legs while giving enough modesty for walking into a shop or casual restaurant. It is light and comfortable and easy to store in your bag. Speaking of bags, see separate article on bags to go with swimwear.
The Hat
Not only is this a number one practical fashion accessory, keeping the sun off your face would be the premier beauty tip for beauty. We recommend a black wide brim hat in a light woven material. It has to be light on the head and filter though just a bit of light so the hair and face can be seen underneath. Practical and appealing.
Sunglasses
Sunglasses don’t necessarily add to the look, but they are important for eye protection and practically speaking most people will need them for the beach. Always get 100% UV blocking lenses, but opt for the lightest shading in them possible, nothing is a sexy as beautiful eyes, so don’t conceal them more than you have to.
Ear rings
Our general rule is: keep jewellery to a minimum and really get affect from what you do put on. If we’re in a bikini, and it’s doing its job of making you look great, don’t distract from the main event. But ear rings really can set off the look and with the right choice can really complete the picture. Think a bit bigger and more out there in ear ring style. We are looking at you from a beach towel many metres away. A great look is precious metals with hints of black matching your black bikini.
Sandals, thongs
You have to wear something on your feet. It can be a sandal with a thong type strap, or maybe go a bit more upmarket with roman ties or any very open sandal that comes up the leg with straps giving a longer calf look. Put some thought into your footwear, not enough girls do when they are dressing in a black bikini,
Nail and Toe polish
More than anything this will be dictated by personal style and your own makeup rules, but definitely paint those toenails and matching fingernails is best. Understate the colour and look, again a bit like the jewellery keep it focused on the main event of beautiful body framed in a classic bikini look. Keep makeup to the bare minimum for sun protection and complexion routine. Think, look and act naturally, you’re out in the sun to have fun and relax, and look great of course.
Singlet
The little black singlet can really add that stunning look on your way to or from the beach event, keep it short and small to show off the curves you have. It looks a bit like a Tankini with the black bikini top underneath. Easy to take on and off and store in that beach bag.
Like any fashion the real key to success with your black bikini look are the two keys of attitude and confidence. The way you think and your ability to believe in your look comes through every time. The girl with less natural beauty that gives it a go and does the most with what she has will always look better than the girl with great assets but no confidence or belief she can do it.

Great! thanks for the share!
